Hi everyone, my name is Bob and I will soon take delivery of a 1978 250 super dream in silver.
She has 42000 miles and has undergone a partial restoration. The tank is rusty inside and needs a paint job, the Cam chain is a little noisy, and the two into one downpipes are rough.
The carbs have been professionally overhauled, a new front master cylinder and braided hoses have been fitted along with new rear shocks. I have a new rear carrier for a top box.
The carbs need balancing and the tick over is too slow, so a tune up is on the cards. She has had a new battery and ignition barrel plus two new tyres.
I owned a cb360 back in the day, it will be interesting to ride a smaller bike again, especially the brakes.. think ahead jack think ahead.
Cannot wait to ride her.
Photos will be coming next week.

Thanks to all for the kind welcome. The petrol tank is the only item which requires time/money.
As I was lucky enough to get the bike at a really low price, and considering what has been done already, spending money on the tank is not an issue. I have not seen underneath yet....
The bike will be a summer / coast / local shop ride only as I have a 2015 R1200RT for longer rides . Should my son want to get his license, then I may lend it to him on the basis that if he
bends it he pays for the repairs.
I have seen a video of a guy stripping the motor to polish the cases, that is something I would like to do over the winter months, it really makes the engine stand out.
Thanks to Duffer for the link to repairing the tank. I have no welding skills, so it will be sent out. I have no patience for spraying either.
The motor fires up straight away, and revs freely with just a little cam chain clatter. On Monday I can start checking timing, plugs, air filter, compression, tappets , and cam chain tension.
When the tank has been refurbished I will take her out, although I do not expect to ride her regularly before april when it starts to warm up a bit.
Bob

"Thanks to Duffer for the link to repairing the tank. I have no welding skills, so it will be sent out. I have no patience for spraying either."
At this time of year, I have several members who have sent me their tanks and plastics for repair and repaint. (I do paint a bit) The tanks do need the most work as you saw in the thread. I found welding alone is not enough. If you want to send me a message here we could have a chat about it. Not done a silver paint job yet.
There may now follow some comments about how the silver bikes are so fast, they are hard to catch........

Agree the silver bikes are fast but not quite as fast as the black ones, the silver ones are held back by additional layers of paint
