BritPete I will let you know when it arrives. What is the significance? The NC engines the oil feed to the rocker was fed externally via the feed pipe - earlier models N to NB the feed was internal to the engine Another thing on the NC the steering lock was part of the ignition- earlier models it was separate on the side of the yoke - if it was put into an earlier frame I think the clocks and cases would have been changed as they are different, the idiot lights are in a different order The engine will probably answer the question if it was a later bike put in an earlier frame. There are a few more subtle differences, the fork top nuts are different. The black bike in the forum header is mine will post side view on a minute I find it really interesting investigating the history of the bikes - if it was an NC the fork bottoms would be gold not black

Yes, i can see the difference in the graphics. I have a lot to learn regarding the model/year/versions etc but will watch all posts with interest.
I am not a purist, wanting an absolutely original bike. Rather someone who loves the look of the bike and wants to make sure that mine looks good, (not necessarily original in all respects), runs well and is fun to ride. Mine will be ridden regularly with members of my Classic Motorcycle Club and simply for pleasure on my own.

OK, I now have the bike. It seems to be in pretty good condition for its age with some tidying up to do and a couple of mechanical details needing attention. I am well pleased overall as, as I posted earlier, I am not too worried about the bike being totally original if I can get it to look as good as possible and to run well. (Some work required though major it3m seem fine). in view of previous comments which suggest that it is a “hybrid”, as requested, a photo of the engine showing what I presume is the oil feed pipe of an NC engine and a view of the headstock/instrument cluster. It appears that the steering lock position does not actually lock the steering. Although I have previously owned, and like, Honda but have no experience of the SuperDream. So, you more knowledgeable people out there, what have I got here?🤔

So confirm NC engine
The instrument casing is from an NC (headlamp main beam 2nd from top, earlier models have headlamp main beam bottom - Clocks are from an NB (red writing on clock face - earlier were green)
Have a look at the headstock of the frame left hand side - it will probably have a separate steering lock or blank for one
Forks are also NC by the smaller nuts on the heads
Looks a really nice bike

agree with BP theres probably two ways of looking at that bike, for the absolute purist its non original for someone like me its a great bike, its got (hopefully) all the later honda bits, oil feeds better to the cam shaft, forks will likely have the slider bushes and drain plugs, yokes have slightly different geometry and I would guess its registered as historic. I'm mildly envious

If I was to do one thing to the bike I would get a battery tray - part 16 below - quite hard to find so may take a while

This is the steering lock on early frames below -The NC parts book shows the lock but it is not there, the part no is different on the NC

Thanks everybody.
I am going to have a new hobby for a while.
I had to sell a Honda PCX125cc scooter that we towed behind our motorhome, in order to make room in the garage alongside my RE Interceptor 650. Also sold my trailer for the PCX so that I have sufficient room to work indoors. Have bought in all service parts and now making a list of what I need to replace.
Just waiting for a bike lift to arrive and then it’s down to some serious fun, and (probably) frustration.
And, in answer to one suggestion, yes, it is registered as Historic.👍
