An quick appraisal of it shows the engine is incorrect as it is an earlier kicker and doesn't match up with the V5. The black paint applied has cracking where it has reacted with the paint underneath. The front mudguard is not original and was fitted backwards! Has a Motad 2 into 1 fitted. The rear left indicator is hanging off. One of the side panels has a broken lug. The swing arm shows rest and will need a repair.

This is where I am with the tank. The silver stickers were removed and I tried some paint stripper I had hanging around on it. Bloomin' useless! Wire wheel in the drill time revealed this. Blue paint. So this tank was blue, then black and then black on that! The tank is the sculpted knee type so is wrong for year too. One corrosion area exposed shows it to be pretty good, the other side yet to do. A peep inside shows a little bit of rust. There is still a tiny bit of old fuel sloshing around inside so I put a rag into the filler hole and move the tank around to get the rag to saok it up.

Looks a challenging project but will be worth it in the end Andy.

I had to go into town today and remembered to take the V5 so went to the main post office. This is what I got back from them. Quite satisfying to not pay any tax! All I need now is a bit of insurance.....Oh! and get the thing road ready!!!

As the sun is shining I thought I would get on and do something! Continuing the paint removal on the tank. It is really hard going as the black paint that's been applied by brush is so think on the top. I think it may be Hammerite. When that layer comes off, the blue underneath is not too bad to get off. I thought I'd expose the bottom corner of the tank where the pet cock is first and that looks fine. Then to the other side. Looks fine, but starting to remove the paint I see some beige. Immediate though is filler. Taking it down to bare metal was quick and I can confirm it was a thin layer of filler covering a single small hole. Guess I need to break out the mig after it's all down to bare metal.
