Time goes bye so quickly. I got this 400NC in April 2019 and I’m sorry to say it’s sat in the que of to do bikes ever since. It’s probably the best superdream I have purchased and that’s why I have not started to fettle it. I’ve got it in the workshop at the moment just doing some cleaning. I have two issues at the moment, one is I think I have got a bit of sd restoration fatigue plus I don’t want to lose it’s originality as they are close to impossible to get to factory finish. Anyhow a few photos as we all like photos. FIRST 2019 THEN 2021

Very nice bike. I know what you mean about the originality aspect Carl. It has become more of a consideration for me too recently.

Well it had to be done the swing arm was a bit tatty. took all afternoon to sand down, spay with adhesion aid, then prime and three coats of acrylic gloss black. Sorry forgot to take photos. It’s hanging out to dry now.

Regarding originality.... I'm of the opinion that anyone can actually get very close to original but you need the eye for detail, patience and (sometimes) deep pockets to do it right and seek out the right parts - unfortunately as we have seen, many people have a 'that will do' approach to these lovely bikes and what Honda originally intended gets very easily lost on them. So for those not concerned with originality it is simply not an issue and quite right too, we are all in this for our own pleasures and no outcomes are necessarily 'right or wrong'. I think with the amount of SD's you have now done you have the skills and that close eye for detail to achieve very close originality. Personally I'd rather have this than put up with annoying 'flaws' caused by careless previous owners but that's how I have always been, I'm not going to force it down anyone's throat.

This was the bike you got from Reading Carl wasn't it? Or was that yet another one? Correct reading it was the owner was restoring a Jubilee, he was more a Brit old iron rather than a Japan speed freak 😆
