Hello. Some of you may have been following this elsewhere, but I'll do a quick catchup on my 2 winter projects. Pictures speak a thousand words so see below. I started out by buying this faded beauty Which currently looks like this. I am making progress, slowly and will post updates soon.

The title is 2 kickers, so here's the second one . bought as spares parts, but it's too nice to break. I have decided to have a go at getting it rooadworthy first, then continuing with the other bike. It will likely end up being both getting done at the same time. I started on it already, looks much faster already. I will fit a pair of carbs after giving the engine a good check over. The previous owner reported that it died due to the carbs, but I will check everything first before attempting a start.

Not many S reg superdreams, was either bike seized?

Neither bike was seized. Despite the first one having sat for 30 years, It was running before I stripped of down. I have only had the second bike a week, it turns over easily but still needs checking over before I think about starting it.

From memory it was a minter silver with a tint of red/orange

I'm not having a good day! After the no spark issue discussed in the help section, I found more evidence of previous visits to the rotor. At first it looked like just a bit of left over silver paint, but when I scraped it away I found this - After a light tap with my finger it turned into this. Yes, that looks like araldite. So I can add an engine case to the list of jobs on this bike. Hopefully I can find one With an early engine number, or god forbid I might have to try a 'repair' of my own. I would like to think it could be repaired better than the previous effort. With the cover fitted, it is held in place well and hard to spot when it was painted. Looks like this bike will be going to the back of the garage and waiting it's turn after all.

Was that the one you went to Wales to collect or the other one?

Not the Welsh bike, This is the one I just picked up as spares or repair. Time will tell if it is going to be spares or repair. Considering the genny issue It might be just as easy throwing another engine into it. I have a spare engine, just needs converting to kick start. I won't be taking that on until I finish the other bike, one project at a time. Either way. This thread will now revert to putting WTD back together.

I think you scored a good buy with that Welsh bike even considering the travel. I'm still kind of kicking myself for not going for it when I saw it listed, but know with all my building work going on it would have to wait quite a while before even starting on it. I'm not even able to get far with the 400 at the moment. I am looking forward to your updates.

IT'S ALIVE!
Encouraged by fixing the 'no spark' issue I decided to spend a bit more time on the S reg bike. I now have a running bike, front brake to fix and this could be a winter toy (assuming I'm allowed out of the house). V5 is away to Swansea to get historic status, insurance sorted very cheaply from Carole Nash. It will get a rebuild at some point, but I can now concentrate on getting WTD back together without too much distraction.

Front brake system stripped down this morning. Piston was stuck as expected, but got it pumped out eventually. Lot of cleaning up and painting required, I'll just have to grit my teeth and buy a very expensive rebuild kit now.

Got these delivered today. They look great, not fitted yet but I think that they are a pretty good copy of the originals.

Are they the TEC ones? I have a pair. Yes, they are from TEC. Black Friday bargains. I found them very good to deal with. Have you fitted yours yet? I'm hoping they work as good as they look.
