engine in (still waiting for a lower front bolt, got an m8 but need the m10) nice easy fitment really. then had a quick run through the carbs (just for peace of mind) and swapped the painted bars for plated ones. the cable mount had also been primed so shot that over with some of the silver I used on the engine, its an it'll do for now job.

Looking very good buster. Seeing work like this has me wondering if my rolling restoration project is really the right way to go. There is something very appealing about starting with a frame that has been powder coated or painted.

bit more progress, front end on, then discovered the destructions for silvers taper rollers are wrong , they shouldnt have the washer fitted so now the headlight shrouds ride up and down. I'll make a couple of spacers for them as its easier than trying to get the lower race off without knackering them and they'll be hidden beneath the top yoke. other than that it seems to be going ok. a thankyou also to CTB for the tip on fitting carbs first then airbox (really nice and easy). hopefully find time tomorrow to get the rear wheel in, then I can move it about and get some better pics

Are you pleased with the maxis tyres? Very tempted to get a pair myself?

Are you pleased with the maxis tyres? Very tempted to get a pair myself? all I can say is they went on easy enough and seated well with no trouble. I'v not ridden on them so time will tell on that one

inspired by sandy's purchase I decided I had to have a set of these I'd call them an absolute bargain at around £65 delivered, quality seems really good too, much better than the ones I got off ebay for the cafe racer

been putting this off for far too long when I saw the blue paint coming off under the red I was quite heartbroken but the more I stripped it back the more I realised that the blue was sprayed straight on to bare metal? so its got a bit of a chequered history. it also appears to have had a fairly major ding at the front, on the positive side it doesnt seem to be rotten or excessively rusty the last remnants of paint will be sanded off and then paint prep can begin...

Great job and keep posting the pictures. It looks like half decent painting temperatures over the next few days too. 👍
