Funny you should bring this up bawbag....
Back later, have to go out now but I found out something this morning related to this that I never knew. What do you want us to debate about it then? I mean what are your thoughts on it?

It's a bit crazy knowing what has got ethanol and what hasn't. I've read that there is not a legal requirement to add to super unleaded but on checking, some do anyway.
There's also this about ESSO.
Esso super unleaded petrol (Synergy Supreme+ Unleaded 97) is ethanol free (except in Devon, Cornwall, the Teesside area and Scotland).
HUH? How do they do that?

Apparently you can get petrol which is totally pure but it isn't cheap. Trying to remember the name of it now.

Aspen now. Yeah I remember 4 star, those were the days. In fact I also recall two star. Was there a three star? Can't remember.

There was a 3 star but not many garages had it
If you wanted 3 star you just filled up 50 50 with 2 and 4 star
Those were the days you needed to check the glass gauge on the pump before and after filling to check there was no air in it and you were short delivered
When I first started riding petrol was under £1 per Gallon
when it neared a £1 they changed to litres as it was easier than adding another digit onto the dials as they were all mechanical

My Starfire in 1970 ran on 5 star fuel🙀 I remember an article in Motorcycle Mechanics that year stating we were running out of oil and petrol would soon be a thing of the past😁😁 And yes there was 3 star fuel.Gallon of 2 stroke was I recall 6/4d a gallon in 1969

I remember the different stars (2 star was looked down on as being crap) 5 star for fancy stuff (if only we had it now) I noticed a while back my local chainsaw shop selling ready mixed 'proper' petrol in metal cans over the counter. some of the classic bike mags also have adverts in them where you can buy petrol mail order, crazy modern world
