Brake fluid cap is just suffering from paint lifting. I assume this is a common issue due to the brake fluid. I could repaint if I cannot get a NOS one. J Very common. Both options are open to you. If you are going to repaint, they originally had a satin black finish, some people redo them in gloss which I think never really looks right. Probably a good idea to replace the rubber diaphragm and screws if you really want it to look very nice, these parts can easily be obtained still. Yes the original is a egg shell black satin... though these are a different last three rather than 671, they are essentially the same functionally... The earlier VT250FD, KE8 M/cyl caps were exactly the same as the NDB caps. I've got a two screw cap somewhere that has a very high gloss, it looks very new, but would look out of place on such a standard bike..

The UK listing for some of these Honda small brake related components seems to have gone up quite a bit
45513-MA5-671 CAP,OIL CUP *G £27
45520-MA5-672 DIAPHRAGM £15.66 EFFCA-MA5-672P DIAPHRAGM £4.74 (DSS)
93600-040-451 SCREW,FLAT,4X45 £1.20 (I noted the ones for the earlier 4 screw M/cyl 90137-422-006 SCREW,CAP,4X35 today listed as £5.76ea!)
All + p&p...

Thanks for the reply and the detailed information.
I will take a photo of my cap. My guess is the last but one photo.
Price rises are a sign of the times. Seems many businesses are just following a trend to maximise returns.

Been meaning to put up a photo following the purchase of my SD earlier this year. Had some fun with it this year having finally found what I wanted a mere 40 years after I first desperately wanted one, but ended up with a CB100N. Never came to terms with that, so thought I had better address the issue, better late than never absolutely applies here. The SD has now covered 2,650m from new, so should be ok for a few more on sunny days of course. JR1 That is very nice bike. I don't see many 250 version where I live more the 400. Looks in very good condition.
