I haven't used my Honda 250NA super dream since 1986 (garaged throughout) and am now looking to sell it. (Looking to move home in a year and not wanting to transport the bike (I am now too old and scared to ride!) I was very careful prior to turning it over first time, plugs out, drop of oil in the cylinder, hand crank rear wheel in gear. Then I connected it to a battery and it turned over perfectly. I replaced the plugs and added a petrol supply and it fired up for a short while but fuel was leaking from the carbs so I shut it off. I cleaned some brown gunk from the bottom of the float chambers which stuck the floats to open hence the leak and now it doesn't leak. Only problem now is I have no spark at the plugs. I have changed the plugs and still no spark. The ignition system looks complicated even if I could get the parts I wouldn't know what to change. Does anyone have any ideas? I would prefer it to be a runner before trying to sell it. In the meantime if anyone would like to make me an offer or buy it let me know! Buyer collects (Selsey West Sussex) Full disclosure:14,340 miles new 1981 - 1 owner. The petrol tank is badly rusted and needs either welding & respray or replacing. Also needs a battery. Rear right indicator is broken but in place by superglue and tape. (the new spare I have is rear left side!) Tyres are OK, new unworn pads to front brakes. Haynes Manual included too.

if it ran before you cleaned the carbs I'd guess that you maybe disturbed an old connection. I'd get into those connectors on the ignition side (pink, green, blue in one connector and white, blue in the other) from the stator and then any connections around the cdi and coil. the black and white wire is the only connection to the rest of the wiring harness and it could be worth temporarily disconnecting that to see if it then sparks.
its a lovely looking bike by the way

I did put oil over all the chrome bits years ago etc and it did clean up quite well a couple for week ago. I'll have a look at the wiring connections. I did wonder if it may be a fault with the emergency cut off switch. I cant remember if I used that to shut if off when I saw the petrol leaking.

Hello Phil, Any idea what you want for the bike in its current non running state? I think it is better if you make an offer. I know in full running order with a new/repaired petrol tank they go for £2,000 - £3,000 at the low mileage it has. I'm not expecting anything above £1000 in it's current condition. It would be good to know it will be restored and used rather than be broken for spares though.
