Has anyone sold owt on ebay of late?
If so what's the deal with paypal? I've just logged in for the first time in months to flog some bits and it's saying that the payment system has changed and they want bank account info.
Anyone have a scooby doo on this?

Yup. Seen the same. Not sold anything recently, but have updated with an account. No problems.

It's called managed payments. They are trying to be more like Amazon. You have to link your bank account and eBay will send your payments direct to that now. There is no need to have a PayPal account to either buy or sell.
You can choose to have payments made daily or weekly. Mine are all daily. You should be marginally better off as there are no PayPal fees.
Buyers can still pay using PayPal but also by other means such as applepay, googlepay etc., giving them more freedom.
All my accounts have been on MP for about a year now, as I am a business seller and there's been no problems at all.

Gives me a concern
My Ebay and Paypal are set up if I buy anything I have to put my Paypal password in - less risky if someone hacks my ebay account
Not sure I would want to give ebay my bank account details

hello i have been buying and selling for 14 years on ebay [ as a private seller/buyer ] initially i used paypal, but switched to using my bank account, there is no real gain in money with the removal of paypal fees, as ebay put there fees up 2.8% the paypal issue will affect sellers more than buyers, but i dont sell anything online anymore, bank details with ebay are as safe as anybody else thats has your details..
i got my 250n on gumtree and paid cash on collection

You can also enable 2FA on ebay for extra security.
The ebay payouts are managed by a Dutch company Adyen. They have a banking licence, unlike paypal, so your money is safe with them. Paypal liked to call themselves a bank but never were and I doubt they ever will be given their shady practices of closing accounts and holding the money for a minimum of six months but often forever. Adyen also manage the payments for etsy.

Forgot to add that if you want to buy an item you can still pay using PayPal or your debit/credit card. You do not need to use your bank account.
Final value fees are deducted automatically when a sale completes. Listing fees are collected from your balance but will come from your bank account if your balance is not enough. You are given notice of this happening.
You can still get 21 day holds if You start selling again after a break or You start selling in larger volumes.
