Great, yeah let us know. Thinking on a wheel that is going to be probably 85% painted it won't matter.....plus the bits that are not painted on these wheels have a 'brushed' courser finish whereas an engine casing doesn't. Hope I'm making some kind of sense. The Soda blasting could be a plan, I've got 4 wheels to do (ran out of summertime this year), would save a lot of time. But I would still plan to use a 2k wash etch primer on the painted areas www.ebay.co.uk/itm/383889532737?epid=1128559082&hash=item5961996741:g:AToAAOSw7MZf9HRdI think I will try and reinstate the brush effect on the rims using slightly used 180 grit silicon paper, then re-polish slightly/2k lacquer.

soda's very gentle to the metal underneath (also needs very careful degreasing after blasting) but probably very expensive, the process uses tonnes of the stuff and its not a reusable blast media. if you want to be that gentle then maybe plastic beads? (got a bag in the garage but havent tried them yet) or walnut shells. I would think most industrial blasters would recommend bead blasting, which is ok (bit harsh on the metal below compared to methods mentioned above) but the blaster really needs to shoot a couple of coats of primer on there too as it massively increases the metals surface area and makes it pretty much instantly prone to corrosion.

My brother has a dry medium blasting cabinet belonged to a deceased friend of his ( homemade but worked ) I had a go at getting it to work again but it uses 2 compressors and I could not get it to work properly.Might see if it’s still there and see if he’ll give it to me😁

Exactly 😁 I just couldn’t get it right plus my brother was too tight to buy fresh medium so I gave up.The guy that built it did a lot of rest stuff for cars/bikes he built A lovelyPanther/Norton chopper many years ago and started restoring and half way through doing it succumbed to cancer🥲 must ask my brother if it’s still there in a mezzanine workshop at his premises

Crushed Glass could be worth a try? I think it was providing quite good performance blasting G.R.P. but can't remember if it was slightly slurried or Dry.
Dave, that side stand is of interest, had a rake round today and only found 3 so far, for a max of 4 bikes. one that I have still to refurb has been slightly bent it forward a few mm just under half way down the tube. The 4th one will likely turn up, in the most unlikely place, but for now I am -1.
