I have had the rotor re wound and a new cdi from Rex's speed shop due to me having no spark. So far I have had new cdi New coil re wound stator And I still have no spark at all. If I ground the HT lead to earth directly there is the very faintest of spark but nothing worth talking about.put plug caps on and a spark plug and there is nothing at all. Good grounds black and Wight wire checked and even disconnected to make sure. I am at my wit's end. Can anyone help PLEASE.

Hi peeps. Got a 1978 cb250t same running gear as super dream.i have no spark at all. New cdi from Rex's speed shop stator re wind from same place. Ohms readings correct. New coil and yes still no spark can anyone suggest anything. I know you don't need a battery to produce a spark but that's new as well. Good earth grounds. HELP.

So the Continuity readings, from the frame to the coil mounts and the frame to the cylinder head using a tester battery circuit, are good?

Those neon plug caps are quite handy for this kind of diagnostic set to work....I've only one, but they both fire at the same time anyway.
Have you powder coated the frame or anything like that?

hi and welcome to the forum.
you could try unplugging the black and white wire near the cdi (its on an individual connector) and see if you can get a spark then. if you start the bike with that wire off you'll have to deliberately stall it to stop the engine

sorry jumping from thread to thread here.
when you checked the stator readings did you use the green wire?
if so I'd unplug the black and white wire (again) that and earth is the only connection to the rest of the loom. then I'd put my multimeter on dc 20v, put the red end on the battery and find a decent earth (bolt, engine, whatever is handy) near the stator connector and repeat the stator winding tests again using the good earth instead of the green wire.

Looks like we have two threads running asking the same thing. I'll combine this with t'other to cut down on the confusion. Welcome to the forum.

I'd be asking Rex Sweatshop and the rewind people to perhaps re-check their work.

Oh and is the coil a good one? There are some seriously dodgy chinese ones doing the rounds.

Sorry to sound thick but not clear to me. Do you mean positive or negative on batter. I know how to check ohms between wires on stator wires but not Shure how the battery comes into play.

It did start then run but would not rev then no spark at all. It seems to be a common fault but everything is new stator cdi coil. There should be nothing to stop it having a good spark but I am at a total loss.

I know how to check ohms between wires on stator wires but not Shure how the battery comes into play. sorry should have been clearer, I'd just use the battery to find a good earth point (mag wheel cover's good if its bare metal) with a new battery you should get a reading of 12v +, if so thats a good earth. then do the stator test again (as per rex's speedshop figures) but use the mag wheel casing (or whatever) as earth instead of the green wire in the stator connector.
