The Honda CB250N-DC & CB400N-C Super Dream (1982-1984)
Early in 1982 the CB250/400N Super Dream models received a further revamp……these were to be the last common (CB400NC) updates to U.K versions. The CB250ND-C and CB400N-C were born, although the CB250N-DC is exceptionally rare in Britain. This was due to a change in learner laws in 1982 affecting 250cc machines meaning that many of the previous CB250NB/NDB models were unsold and were left sitting in Honda dealerships, hence the CB125TDC became the learner’s obvious choice.
The CB250N-DC had all new graphics and was available in Metallic Red, Black, Silver and Metallic Blue. It featured a halogen quartz headlamp and improved lubrication via an external oil feed to the cylinder head, as well as other features found on the CB250N-DB model, such as reverse comstar black wheels. The CB400N-C was available in Metallic Blue, Black, Metallic Red and a Silvery-Grey- although this colour is rare on U.K bikes. The CB400N-C had gold and silver detailed wheels similar to the outgoing CB400N-B model but this time also had matching gold fork bottoms and a black and silver detailed engine. The engine also featured the external oil feed to the cylinder head, just as the CB250N-DC model.
The CB400N-C’s engine became slightly larger to previous 400 models at 399cc. Other notable changes were CB900F style instruments with orange needles and revised console warning lights. The entire instrument console panel was revised in shape and now incorporated a steering lock and parking light feature within the ignition switch. Other changes to the 400cc model included a colour coded plastic front mudguard and revised 'twin pot' front brake calipers and brake discs.
