I'm sure that the previous owner will be moved to tears. Hoping you can strike a deal with her if she wants it back in her life again but of course these things always come down to current lifestyle (and money) at the end of the day. I saw this beauty in the flesh the other day and it looks better than the photos ππ

I dunno... you turn your back for just 5 minutes and the buggers just breed ! I seem to have at least one spare blue one. Anyone interested ?

Just wanted to conclude this one. The bike is now done And sold ! Funny thing is, I sold it to a fella not far from the original owner. So today I did a delivery run, with a detour. Remember Jenny on her new bike in 1978 ? Well here she is today Spent an hour with her, or should I say, she spent an hour with the bike. Many happy bike tales told.

The very one. Bought it new. Hid it in the neighbours garage because her mum did not approve. Posted a recent picture of her old bike by the plane on her Facebook page..Guess what..her mum STILL does not approve. Expected to go ballistic when this one is posted, even though someone else bought the bike. π€£

Lovely. It's so nice that you had the thought to show her the bike again, even though she did not end up back with it. I think had her mum not have been breathing down her neck she would of had it back in a heartbeat.

Well, this has been an upsetting week. But there is a nice ending to this particular story. For anyone reading this for the first time, please go to the start, then read on.
I was delighted to find Jenny (The original owner) and even more so to reunite her with her old bike, if only for a while. Like many, she is balancing her budget, and buying back her old bike was not possible. The best I could do was a detour to show her the bike, then take it away to the new owner. It was a lovely hour, but I had to leave.
A week later I had a phone call from a very nice chap. It was Jenny's son. He had only just found out about the bike and asked me to help him buy it back. He wanted to both surprise and treat his Mum with the bike as a thank you, and an early (or late) birthday present. I called the new owner and explained the situation, and to my surprise, he was willing. What you can watch next is the moment the surprise was sprung. She is a delightful lady, and the language is fruity to some. If you melt at room temperature then don't click on the link. For the rest of you, I hope you enjoy it.
Job done.
