Certainly a great basis to turn into what ever you like Paul.
Having now had time to fully let it all sink in, have you decided which route you will be going with it?

so delved a bit deeper, rear wheel bearings ok, swingarm good and solid (phew!) bushes feel fine, rear shocks look like they are original but sadly act like pogo sticks (no damping left at all). the rest of the engine mounting bolts are there and look right. the tank has a small amount of rust internally (floating about in the petrol) but everywhere I can see with a torch I'm looking at bare metal (well happy, as they are a pig to buy and good ones make NOS SD tanks look cheap) the under side of the tank has a bit of rust coming through but nothing thats worrying me. front brake is full of rather grotty looking old fluid and is very spongy, paints bubbling a little round the master cylinder banjo bolt, so a rebuild on the cards. front caliper, after looking online it appears they are made of unobtanium, and theres evidence of what appears to be brake fluid on the edge of the disc, so rebuild there as well. disc has also seen better days (not surprising on a bike with virtually no engine braking) but I'm pretty sure I'v got a spare (somewhere). front wheel bearings ok and steering head bearings ok. headlight shell abused and knackered (think I'v got a couple of spares so no problem) rim looks pretty nice. tyres will be changed (bit of life in the rear) just because I'm not going to try running on ancient rubber. overall I get the impression that this bike has been cared for (6 previous owners) and I still havent found anything thats yet upsetting me, happy days

Agree, the tanks can be scarce. There are some NOS ones lurking somewhere I think but horrendously expensive. Not seen a decent used one for some time. This is one of the rarest cosmetic parts on these bikes (below). If you see one, snap it up straight away without hesitation. I skanked one from Germany for my 413 750 project but had to fight for it.

Iām so pleased itās worked out well, it can be so disappointing sometimes when you have them delivered without viewing. Keep the post going with works you carry out.
