Hello All
my rev counter has become very sluggish to react when increasing or decreasing the revs. When it finally catches up it still appears to indicate reasonably accurately.
I have tested the rev counter off the bike with a drill and spare cable and it acts just the same. It’s had very little use in its life and is not showing signs of corrosion.
I guess it may need some specialist attention noting how tricky it must be to remove the crimped on bezel.
Any thoughts or info about where I could get it fixed would be appreciated.
Alternative would be to find a replacement either new 😆 or a very good used one I guess.
thanks

Page 9 "250 beyond repair". Take a look. It works with magnets, so I suspect it is a corrosion problem. You will have to remove the rim, but it is not that hard. A hot air gun to warm it up carefully will help soften it. Bugger it up... then you buy a new one. Worth a go.

I had the same problem on the speedo of mine - swapped it out for a replacement
Bugged me putting 20,000 miles on it to correct the mileage

Ok thanks both I’ll have a go at during the weekend as it’s in pristine condition otherwise so worth a closer look.
I see there is a NOS one on e bay but I don’t fancy the £163 🤦♂️

I had the same problem with my rev counter, so I've taken out the bulb and squirted wd40 up the hole with the dial of the gauge pointing up so I didn't get wd40 on the dial. Seems a lot less sluggish now and I figured if it didn't work and I had to take it apart anyway, I'd be able to clean out any wd40 overspray, but I managed to not get any on the dial.

So I tried the WD40 and it seems to have worked.
I did get a bit on the dial so I think by undoing the two screws on the real allowing the dial to contract the internal bezel may have been a good idea.
Thanks for your help
