Hi guys, I can lift my cam chain off the sprocket at the top slightly, is this normal. It seems tighter at different points of the crank rotation. The photo is a screen shot of my video, which was too big to download. Also, the Haynes manual says to loosen the tensioner bolt, and press down on the tensioner itself, to gain more tension , which did improve it slightly. Is there a knack to gain maximum tension. Thanks for any replies. Bob

a small amount of play on the sprocket is normal, as the manual suggests (the earlier manuals recommend doing it with the engine running) loosen both bolts and apply a bit of pressure with your finger, then let go and tighten the bolts back up. should be job done

Hi Buster, thanks for the reply. I only undid one bolt for the tensioner, where is the other one. bob both a bit fiddly to get at, one above the other on the back of the engine, ones a nut and ones a bolt, its best not to undo the nut completely you dont want to risk the cam chain tensioner popping into the engine
