I am about to change front and rear sprockets together with the final drive chain.
Having ordered the parts, which have now arrived, I can see that the rear sprocket supplied has a “guard ring” riveted to it while my existing sprocket is a simple pressed item without the “guard ring”.
A statement on the suppliers website says that the original item has been superceded by the one supplied.
So, the questions are, will this fit as a direct replacement on my 1980 CB400N? Will it foul the chain guard as it is thicker?
I have asked for clarification from the supplier before I unpack it but can’t believe that this hasn’t come up before, (although I can’t find it using Search), so has anyone done this?

The original Honda sprockets had a guard ring so it is in keeping with originality - it will be fine

Thank you for that. I have a busy couple of weeks coming up getting the bike up to scratch.
The help from Forum members is excellent .

No problem fitting the new sprockets. I assume a previous owner had fitted a cheaper pattern part.
New front and rear sprockets, chain and new cushion rubbers fitted.
Now working well.
