Carburettor cable attachment spools, do they come away from the spindle on the left carb are they interchangeable etc 450/400/250? Went to fit a nice set of carbs (VB31G~?) to a 400 today but then found one side of a cable nipple holder was fractured/missing . I've hardly don any hands on work to SD carbs, so starting as novice on this parts book page! Thanks

MKW had that issue and the carb worked fine

So perhaps a design defect in that component on the later carbs.
Just finished testing the carbs with a 6" fuel header, still getting a drip on the left carb about every 15-20seconds..
Ran out of daylight....

from memory you can take the spool thingy off (as an assembly) by unscrewing the throttle butterflies, carbs need to be separate though to do it. also the spindles are different between 400/450 models and the 400a. the 400a I'm guessing has the same throttle butterflies as a 250. it looks like the spool is held on with one of those spring pin thingies, I'd be very wary of trying to get one of those out without breaking/bending anything, very likely to have fretted in the alloy part
