On the stem of the 250 Superdream con rods above the big end is an oil hole, does the point to the front or the back of the cyclinder, the manual I have makes no mention of this!

sorry that this has taken a while (I'm literally upto my armpits in bike bits, where and when did I get all this stuff from?) if you can see the numbers on the rods thats a massive bonus, the numbers are on the same side as the little holes and basically the holes go to the gearbox end of the engine on both the rod and the lower cap. I'm assuming that as the engine turns it pushes the bottom of the rod into the sump at a fairly extreme angle and its enough to keep a film of fresh oil going over the shells. probably johnjones area of expertise

This subject has been clarified but still crops up for time to time. Cmsnl.com is your friend. The exploded views and pictures are very info rmative for checking if you have forgotten, simply dont know, or too lazy to look up . The exploded view, cb250n 1980 a, UK, piston connecting rod, big end cap shows shell tang cut out at front. Rod picture shows oil hole at rear and rod shell tang cut out at front. So, oil hole at rear, both shell tang cut outs at front, and, the difficult to see sometimes, graded ink stamp, across rod split, face, at rear. Sometimes using "the light" method to see the ink stamp works, sometime a picture altered in a computer program works, but the best chance is to have the big end cap on the right road round ! Can you trust the old shell colours 🤔

Digital vernier that never zeros again or the "clock" type ? Proper ones with a dial, scrapped the digital ones, bloody useless things. My DTI is also useful as that’s an old school dial on it too

Yep, old school always beats "Hi tech" in this game every time.
