Just looking at all those bikes parked up outside. So trusting. I worked at a shop as a lad, and we sold Honda lawn mowers. The manager was an old game keeper and was a mistrusting sort, so when I suggested we park a mower outside to advertise a bit he refused to put the mower out, just the colourful box it came in. The box had a full size picture on of of the mower so it did the same job, and to stop it blowing away we added some bricks inside. Then one afternoon a transit van pulled up and in a flash, two hooded blokes got out, ran over to our display and threw it in the back of the van then drove off at speed. Good old Ron, he knew his stuff. We laughed about that for years.

Good old Ron, he knew his stuff. We laughed about that for years. When I worked at the Halfords superstore in Hereford we kept some bikes on display in the entrance/exit lobby secured to the dividing rail. One of the bikes was needed as that size had sold and was replaced by a different model. Friday, about 6.30pm a car stopped outside the door and a guy got out and checked one of the bikes in the back of the car, jumped in and off it went. The lad that changed the bikes over had forgot to secure the bike! We had the car number and it was reported to the police. It was a company car, registered to the company head office. They could not find out who the driver was until Monday when they were back at work after the weekend. They went to his house and it turns out he reported the car as stolen that Friday evening. The car was found in the week parked up at an industrial estate locked up and with no damage to door locks or steering locks. The police say it is a fairly well known scam that happens on Fridays as it gives the thieves time to get rid of whatever they've had it away with!

I cant believe someone would risk so much for a push bike
