I think I will go down the route of changing fuel hoses and using ESSO. There is an ESSO garage about 9 miles away and I pass very close to it on the school run so can get a couple of 5 L cans filled. I do store a can of unleaded as it's needed to make my 2 stroke mix for my disc cutter and chainsaw and also go into the lawn mower. My insurance is OK with that, but I haven't checked about the 25L drum of Morris oil I have! Both are kept outside in a small wooden store I knocked up and are away from the house.
I don't know about the fuel diamond thing. I don't know if I want to drop a lump of 'something' into a petrol tank. Maybe that's what the bolt in Duffer's tank was for!

seems a sensibly written article, interesting that they point out that the 'recipe' for petrol is regularly tweaked mostly without customers knowing about it. makes me wonder what sort of crap they could be getting rid of in modern fuel and maybe the ethanols allowing them to do it? lets face it, its not like marine diesel is a dumping ground for all the 'orrible stuff that they cant get rid of in the refining process...
