Yes agree with him. Typical clickbait advertising rubbish on there but once you get to the bones of the article I think it's good. He's always been passionate about the classic vehicle scene. On a similar vein, this seems a topical subject of late too: www.gov.uk/guidance/e10-petrol-explained

Hammond's article mentions the weeding out of 'certain people' who are in the classic scene but IMHO these people will not necessarily be the wealthy as he indicates.....I think it will also weed out the people who only want a classic to save money (lack of MOT and tax costs for example). Probably a double edged sword in this respect....

On a similar vein, this seems a topical subject of late too: www.gov.uk/guidance/e10-petrol-explainedI think if I carry on as I have been there will be no issue, i.e don't leave the fuel in tank or carbs for any longer than six months. I recently bought a bike back (my Bandit) and talked my mate through how to drain it fully down in my absence.....I think a lot of people may just simply now have to take this issue more seriously.

Unfortunately Sir Buster, in this new world, where real science and tested facts are left by the wayside in favour of sound bites, headline grabbing, social media warriors and f**kwit politicians looking to raise there standings, we are left with very questionable decisions on all matters, not just fuel.
20 years ago diesel was the future and what a shit show that turned into when the facts were revealed.
Today we have the topic of covid to deal with, a most important topic since nature does not suffer fools, and has frequently in the past wipped out life on a grand scale, just ask the dinosaurs, Jupiter could very well lob another rock our way, or nature could shit out a proper nasty virus that we can do nothing about, but I digress.
The point is until we have people in positions of power that are capable of making informed and reasoned decisions, whether that decision upsets the f**kwits or not, we are screwed.
Common sense based on science, tested theories, and unbiased reason is unfortunately not politically correct, hopefully this will change.
One thing is certain, we will pay big style for all the dodgy decisions made recently, but fear not, pals of those in charge are rolling in it and couldn't give a flying.
This post was brought to you by the absence of beer, a proper serious situation 🤔

I almost completely agree lord beer, as you make many rational points, could I just observe though that diesel is a type of engine and not a type of fuel (sorry). but I do agree that the fuel (wrongly called diesel) has been demonised. I wonder if anyones bothered to do emissions tests on diesel (multifuel) engines running on something like peanut oil? I strongly doubt it
again I apologise for being pedantic but I'm rather an admirer of monsieur diesel (genius engineer) and hold him in the same sort of esteem as harry ferguson

Do not apologise Sir Buster, you are most correct, diesel engines are most fuel efficient, and of course big two stroke diesel engines power many prime movers, the shipping industry relies upon them, the point in my post was that those in positions of power jump on bandwagons based on shaky facts and virtually none existent forward thinking to keep the equally hard of thinking happy.
Perhaps we should ban such engines and they will see what happens when the world's goods trade grinds to a halt.
Such individuals cannot be reasoned with, how many innovations were as a result of the space race and yet many today see it as nothing more than folly and forget the great engineering and technological advances made which we use today in our everyday lives.

They can use it in the very new vehicles surely and meet some artificial target surely, everyone does not need to burn it (Then I won't feel guilty about the other destructive effects). Rant- As I've said before, not really interested in pure electric vehicles (except Tamiya ones), if they insist all Hybrids have to go as well, let them open all the railway lines they closed in the 60's=LS2. In hindsight an awful lot of the UK infrastructure and residential capacity is a bit weird if carbon neutral is an objective! Needing millions of four wheel or more, with sealed vats of toxic chemicals to power them they say to operate (how much to scrap EVs in the future, will you have to pay). Then they will get the hydrogen boilers replacing the current NG, But where are all the H producing electrolysis .plants which must be powered by solar hydro or wind, because the other way of production makes things no better. I wonder if they will call the new heating boilers LZ129, and feature it in the boiler maintenance service insurance adverts . www.statista.com/statistics/457795/uk-hydrogen-production-share-by-method/www.forbes.com/sites/rrapier/2020/07/10/hydrogen-production-with-a-low-carbon-footprint/?sh=56f613f97c2c
