Yes brethern, how much indeed, much has been written on this E5 E10 fuel subject, I'm quite happy to run all my other bikes on the new planet saving fuel, but the SD, from all I understand would not appreciate it, so super unleaded E5 it is.
Ah, what's this, Super unleaded fuel E5, that'll do nicely, commence fuelling, hang on, fookin how much, £1.55 a litre !!!!
Whilst Lord Beer understands the passage of time, all things must pass and all that, I cannot help but think that we are being rogered sideways, surely those specialist or classic vehicles that require this fuel cover far less miles than ordinary boring boxes of despair that clog up the roads.
What can be done, well nothing, in this age of quick Internet soundbites, facts and science are irrelevant, further I will not expand.
The one thing that troubles me is this, old vehicles are now being persecuted as being evil, perhaps rightly so, but these older vehicles are typically run by those good people who work jobs that pay not very much and cannot afford the latest EVs etc which are expensive and attract lower tax rates and costs.
So, is the future to price these good people off the road to favour the well off who can afford the new way of travel.
But consider, society relies on people from the bottom to the very top, wipe out those at the bottom and the cards fall.
I do not know the answer, but I do know that increasing costs to the less fortunate in favour of those with wealth cannot end well.
What next, £5 a pint !!! troubling times my friends.
Lord Beer is currently constructing his own personal brewery with help from friendly local farming folk, forum members are most welcome 😁

Lord Beer. If you can stomach Facebook (I can in very small amounts) look up and follow/join the following page. It's recent and it is hoped that in volume, something can be done about this.
"National Campaign to Ban Ethanol".

I agree with much of that lord beer but I'm not so sure that the ethanol is saving the planet, even greenpeace are reportedly against this evil stuff, largely due to the fact that theres very little energy in it (compared to say, erm petrol) so therefore we all end up burning more fuel? saving the planet or revenue raising? up to each of us to decide on that one. also (while I'm having a mild rant ) heres a picture of a vehicle who's engine will run on 100% bio fuel without modification, there may be sludging issues in very cold weather but surely that could be overcome? I chose that cos I'v a soft spot for fergies, point being though that just about any pre common rail diesel engine will run on 100% bio fuel without modification

I came across this today in my local Charlies Stores. I certainly had a 'HOW MUCH!' moment. Absolutely no ethanol but at this price I think it will be super unleaded for me.

"National Campaign to Ban Ethanol". I'm not thinking about banning Ethanol, just have it as an alternative, If you have a vehicle that is designed to use the stuff fine, but have the non-ethanol stuff as well at the same price!. Using Tesco E5 Momentum for my car now, did more miles this year and the road tax is still 6-7p a mile. The car has nearly done 16000 since 2003 , and still does not emit when it is parked and switched off, not the .Gov point of view though. I did do a lot of miles commuting in my old Mondeo, 2004 to 2019 but substantially less non work miles than I could have done, due to the time spent on the Superdream Hobby ! A Guy on the radio this morning said the UK is still 70% at least fossil fuel reliant, it cannot be changed overnight, steady progress and renew end of life items sensibly. UK is apparently 1% of the global emissions. They were discussing whether a North Sea field should proceed. If it does not proceed then will they ban import of the product it would produce? same with coal mines? Anyway have not seen a train with a Hybrid coach on any trains going past yet, and the technology has been available for decades... It's kinda like someone I knew that worked on the rigs in the 80s. there had been a serious fire on another rig and they were reviewing safety, of concern to my friend as his quarters were directly below the aviation fuel storage tank. They put at extra CO2 extinguisher in the corridor, they had done something!

an interesting thread..but is ethanol a planet saving fuel..nope
are greenpeace "green " nope [ how do they travel around the globe i wonder..in all electric vehicles ? ] revenue raising..most certainly..many moons ago diesel used to be cheaper than petrol, until alot of folk switched to diesel vehicles, then the diesel price went up, will E5 remain at the pumps, yep..it makes money, can/will anything be done..nope, its a moot point to a certain extent, as the wheels of commence keep turning regardless of a minority shouting the odds
as a small child, my father had a grey fergie, i used to climb around on it for hours, then a bit of fiddling and push the gear lever to start. lots of chuffing then it would burst into life..great !
thanks richard

Same price as the 4 stroke. They do 1litre sizes too at £7.99 I think, again in both 2 and 4 stroke. Charlies Stores is a fairly local-ish chain around here and sell lots of garden equipment, workwear and horsey stuff as well as tools, toys, motoring and some homeware stuff.

Interesting thoughts and indeed scary examples of over inflated prices in the name of green progress and profiteering.
Of course the benefits of all this are highly questionable, the reference to planet saving fuel is of course firmly tongue in cheek, many questions remain to the actual benefits which of course instead of being debated reasonably with facts and science, we are simply told edited highlights and that's it, and question them at your peril lest you dubbed a forest burning polar bear killing barsteward instead of a reasonable individual who simply seeks truth backed up by studies which have no political or any other agenda and if it turns out that whatever it is is proved correct and we must adapt, then so be it. And if it is wrong then the idea must be jettisoned without fear of reprisals from those with a vested interest in ignoring the facts.
Sadly we live in times where this does not happen, where the voices of scientific fact and reason are drowned out by the voices of Internet experts, political individuals seeking to enhance their career and corporations (usually pals of the aforementioned politicians) out to make a financial killing.
But do not fear, because we can all sit in the house, order shite food off some app and watch terrible pc telly programs with suitable warnings about the program upsetting someone somewhere, oh joy.
On a lighter note, what a nice day 😎

Went to Tesco to fill up my banger with that dirty smelly diesel and noticed that most of the E5 nozzles on the pumps are not in use. I ask myself, lorry driver shortage or are people using more E5?
