Proper impressed with your good fortune Lord Beer. Must admit to going back to the beginning to check your explanation of how this came your way. Umm, natural causes was it ??

Sir Duffer, I wish this were a good story, but alas to expand, the car was bought by our mechanic a few months ago, an old guy, strong as an ox and respected by all due to his immense knowledge of all things, and my great friend, his first love was his boat which he had for many years and had stored at the factory for complete rebuild which turned out to be an eight year complete overall. The boat was completed to an unbelievable standard at the end of June and shipped out to its birth at Amble marina. Walter, or Mr T, as we affectionately called him is the guy in the overalls in the second photo. Only a week after he called me to say he had to isolate due to his wife testing positive, and that he wouldn't be in for a couple of weeks, soon after I received a call to say he had been taken into hospital and was on oxygen but was ok, two weeks after this he passed away. To say that I was devasted and heartbroken as were many at the factory is an understatement. Walter was a long time friend of the gaffer, and as a company we agreed to pay all funeral costs and buy all his tools so Margaret, his wife, would have a good pot of money, I spoke at length with his daughter and offered to buy the car at the price he paid and get them out of it which is how I acquired it. I would much prefer that these circumstances were not so, but I now feel compelled to finish the car to a standard Walter would approve of. Apologies for this most sad story, indeed Lord Beer is in tears writing this post, but all thing's must pass, humorous electrical italian woes will no doubt follow, I feel the need for a beer 🍺

A sad story indeed. You really must keep it and enjoy it.

Keep it I probably will, and to lighten the story, I feel a competition is in order, so upon fitment of a replacement battery, how many electrical things will not work.
1. All of them, it's an Alfa.
2. One, the electric foo foo valve that spontaneously combusts when many miles from home.
3. None, it'll be fine, ( I advise if this is case, the winner buy a lottery ticket, for thou shall surely win 😄).

In light of the history you must do this and I am sure you will do Mr T proud.

Make sure you get a top quality battery for this one. These Alfa's can throw up all sorts fault codes with a poor battery and can make you chase your tail and empty your wallet at the same time!
I hope you don't get the dreaded 'Motor Control System Failure'.

A new battery is on order, courtesy of the company account, although used for testing leccy things, will not be used for fire up until the timing belt kit and water pump and service is completed week Friday, then the picture will become more clear, if successful I see there is a wing on ebay in the right colour available, then bumper off and paint, of course other gremlins may present themselves, but this is the gamble.

Nervous times, had a battery dropped off this afternoon. Do I approach the car carefully, shaking at the thought of electrical armegeddon. Nah sod that, whack it on and turn the key (avoiding the start position). And..... no drama, behold Everything seems ok, keyfob still works and even managed to get in the boot Another test passed 🙂🍺

excellent result lord beer (with the battery), a friend has a bit of a lancia fetish (its ok he's a printer, he can afford it) mechanically they were actually pretty sound, so long as you didnt point them at rain, electrically, erm, did I already say they were mechanically quite sound...
by the way, by all accounts I'v ever heard those twin spark engines are absolute little gems

Indeed, did a bit of research and they do sound good, the 1.6 comes in two variants a 105 or 115 bhp version, after checking the vin plate mines the powerhouse 115 😄, although not interested in flying around, more the experience of enthusiast car ownership, it's something different, I admit the interior is a nice place to be, lots of style and character.
Dare I use it in a light rain shower 🤔

Brilliant news that there's no warning lights showing. May I ask if you are going to add any accessories? I was thinking of these.

A most important question indeed, obviously Lord Beer's usual attire is most suitable for motorcycle duties But of course this is not very Italian, perhaps a change is in order Yeah ok, that's Greek, but you get the idea 😄
