Ta no experience myself, but if they reply on using a mobile phone app/signal, various places across the scottish highlands don't have any mobile coverage..my handheld gps wont lock onto a signal unless it can see the sky, so would be of little use in the back of a van ?

our lad considered them a few years back for the quad bikes on the farm, two problems, one its the mobile subscription to pay each month, two the police simply arent interested even when you can locate the thieving little scrote b*st*rds. hopefully theres less apathy from your local dibble?

I'm afraid plods actions to vehicle theft are pretty shit, we had one of our vehicles taken last week, a Sprinter fully loaded in Doncaster, parked overnight at a Premier Inn car park, usually the tool boxes are broken into but this time the vehicle was taken, obviously a pro job as the tracker went offline almost immediately, the plods reaction, we're not coming out but here's a crime number, fookin whoopy do, thanks a lot, too busy raking in money from decent folk straying 2mph over the limit with their fookin cameras, I used to have respect for plod but now they come across as nothing but tax collectors, grrŕr 😡

Thanks chaps. Seems to be a negative response in the main to the Police side of things which of course kind of puts a major BUT on things. That said, I have a mate in Kent who recently had a GSX600 nicked from his lock up and it had a cheap 20 quid tracker on it. The Police did actually act on that occasion and found the bike at an outfit that was starting to strip the bike (and arrests were made). I guess it depends on the force, Doncaster certainly don't sound good.

I'm glad your mate got his bike back (and the plod there seem more bothered) sadly round my part of yorkshire they pretty much dont care, shrug their shoulders and hand out a crime number. as for just over the border in lancashire, well colne police station may as well be closed as they wont do a damn thing, I will say though that nelson (the next town in lancs) does at least have a few decent coppers that can be bothered, seems crazy to get a nelson copper out to a crime in colne because colne plod simply cant be bothered...

A sign of times with plod, in the past I have been pulled over for riding, shall we say enthusiastically, but after a chat and a laugh, I was allowed to go my merry way with nothing more than a tone it down a bit, now it's camera's, no personal involvement from plod, just we've got you, give us your cash your criminal kitten murdering git, my license is intact, but for how long.
Of course someone pulling out on you whilst on the phone is perfectly acceptable, because the chances of plod spotting this is virtually nill 😡

Anyway, trackers, possibly useful, but probably more useful is not parking in dodgy areas, use a fookin big hardened chain, and get yourself a baseball bat. As posted last year on the other forum, a scrout tried to pinch the 1000 from outside the old man's house, he had no chance, the sight of a wild man intent on murder racing out the door had him shiting himself, he disappeared promptly, I now park in the back garden, but I am more than happy to beat any thieving scum to within an inch of there lives, such scum deserve no mercy 😡
