sorry this ones a bit political (I know, I'll get my coat) but very relevant, especially to those of us that own classics. the halfwits are trying to ban any modified vehicle, if I'v understood this correctly that means any part that isnt genuine from the factory for your car/bike whatever.
what they dont seem to realise is probably every car/bike on the road thats beyond its first service age is quite possibly now modified. how so? well oil gets changed (will there be a list of approved oil for each vehicle?) and any decent dealer will change the sump plug washer.
the thing is even main dealers often dont bother with genuine honda/vauxhall etc sealing washers (quizzed a couple of dealer mechanics on this) they like independent garages just keep packs of suitable washers around. same goes for brakes (who fits genuine brake lines to a car? your mechanic just knocks up a new one), same goes for all sorts of odds and sods, positioning screw on some discs and drums (car) springs to mind, again mostly non genuine.
if this ineffable stupidity does come to pass all I can say is I'm going over the copper who pulls me's car with a fine tooth comb...
