well i advertised the old girl for sale [ cb250n ] on evilbay last night and she was bought this morning.....i will be sad to see her go [ shes' going to essex ] i have covered nearly 2000 happy miles in 9 months, but as i dont have any money or savings i had my heart set on another bike, so she had to go in order to buy the new bike.... but wait...not all is lost i am now the proud [ hopefully ] owner of a Velocette LE [ noddy bike ] which should complement my 1960 bsa bantam d7, both in age and speed [ or lack of it ! ] certainly a " marmite " bike if i ever saw one...i shall of course still post on the forum if thats ok, i really liked my plucky superdream here's the replacement...

Just count this on the web Ex-police machines can be identified by the after market fittings for the police radio. These include the manufacturers data plate being moved to the headstock, the word 'POLICE' stamped under the generator cover and a distinctive V shaped pressing riveted in front of the seat.

The LE almost finished Velocette off as post war they anticipated everyone would want one and they virtualy stopped producing the big singles, the public didn’t like the LE but the Police forces did and production carried on till 1971 when factory closed.I had a LE and loved it

Is it interesting to ride? Dont know about riding but the engineering was opposed piston shaft drive 4 stroke which probably on brit bikes was ahead of its time The look was Aerial Arrow ish but in my opinion the 2 stroke twin would have been my choice of engine - Neils brother has one and for a 200 goes like sh!t off a shovel

The idea for building the LE came during the war and Phil Irving of Vincent fame had some input, the Ariel two stroke maybe borrowed some of the LE design features but put a decent engine in their bike. The LE was flawed in that it could not be “bored” out to make a bigger more desireable capacity machine 192cc was the maximum. The original LE was aimed at people with no desire to be motorcyclists in that it was fully enclosed smooth and quiet to ride with hand gear change and hand starter and a meagre 150cc water cooled engine.I loved riding mine two up round country lanes doing VMCC runs.Would, love another one😁

yep, thanks...its a very similair bike to mine, although it has a hand start and hand gear-change and aside from a few other bits and bobs, they didnt change to much am really looking forward to it being delivered by the transport guy in less than 2 weeks time [ not that i am counting the days of course ]
