SME has had an oil leek from the base gasket for about 18 months
This morning at 08:00 CTB arrived at my house to strip the top end and replace the base gasket
The nightmares I have seen on UTube breaking the cylinders off the base gasket - the one on SME just parted easily
By 13:00 job complete and bike running
I have never stripped an engine before but after expert training from CTB feel confident I could now do it
Many thanks to CTB and best wishes to Mrs CTB for your wedding anniversary today

Couple of things mention The rubber seals on the cylinder bolts which have been discussed many times on the forum, one came out complete and the other well and the gaskets were I believe original Honda, so my theory that the head had never been off I think was correct Probably should have bought an original NOS to keep it original they must me available

Thanks all, it’s the first time I’ve stripped a NC and there are a few differences, most obvious being the extra oil feed. Glad you didn’t mention the two mishaps both my fault, these being let’s drop a copper washer down the cam chain tunnel and let’s forget to put the cam chain guide in and realise just when your about to set the valve clearances 😩😩😩😩

Yes but I did not mention the copper washer I found later in the day left over
Luckily it was from the external oil feed pipe so quick fix
