been having a few problems with that top hat thing that goes in the sprocket wearing out on me. everything I assume should be a very tight fit in order to cut down on wear, any play and this happens very quickly so got a couple of pattern top hat doofers off silvers and fitted one, tried the old washer but its too worn, so my tight arse solution (mild bodge) was to polish the lip off the old top hat fitting and use that as the washer. a flap wheel in the angle grinder used with care did the job nicely. that worked perfectly as the spacer washer, the circlip was a bit tricky to fit as I had to carefully seat it with a hammer and punch. I'll see how long it lasts this time...

I've put a cheap pattern sprocket on the CB400N kicker for now, and the interference fit is not as tight as I'm used to normally putting the insert in the freezer and the sprocket being gently warmed before putting a bit of wood across and driving the insert into the sprocket. I have shimmed the cush drive with plastic card until there was only the play in rubber, to minimise rotation. Will have to keep an eye on it though, don't want a worn wheel hub spigot! It will get Its original wheels back on latter, once refurb and re-booted, the current wheels are for a 250 project.
