oil pressure light packed up, I just found the blue and red single wire hanging loose that should connect onto the pressure switch, earthed out the light comes on. It must have got caught and pulled out....where is the switch located so I can reconnect it please?

depends slightly on what model you've got, but most likely place is under the clutch cover right at the top behind where the clutch cable mounts

If it's a 400N I agree with Buster. And the wiring harness is the grey affair that sits on top of the central crankcase - shared between the neutral light / switch.

Thanks people, ...it is a 400N. I must have caught it somehow and ripped it out! bare wire end with the heat covering on it.........where does it access the cover? the cover is oil tight and I have just an end of cable, if the switch is under there the cable must exit the crankcase and it would seem it must have snapped outside somewhere? I can post a pic but I have a blue/red wire coming from the plug under the side panel not connected and snapped. The heat sheath is on it.

That grey loom accesses the cover at the top near the cylinder head from memory?

thanks again.....I will look tomorrow.....reckon wire will be clean off and entail pulling the cover . but I can see on your photo the sender is under a little bit that is not full of oil! Out of interest, seeing as it has fresh oil......if I lean it over at a jaunty angle will the clutch cover come off without losing all the oil?? I have done that on other bikes.

Leaning the bike over is an absolute bodge ! And it works just fine 🤣👍 When you have all the bolts free, pull the clutch in. It separates the cover easily without being tempted to fiddle with a screwdriver.

Hi as an update and thank you to those pointing me in the correct direction! I would never have seen the wire. It is indeed fed out the lumpy bit on top of the side casing tight on the barrel. With a torch I could see about 5mm of cable which I winkled out the hole with tweezers...........best bit is for now at least I managed to poke a teeny soldering iron in and join the cable with a bit of heat shrink over the join. Then poked it back into the case cover a little. It works fine and can receive a proper repair with some soft cable instead of the rock hard 44 year bit on it when the cover needs taking off. Thanks again.
