Got one. Just as chuffed. 🤣 yeah, I must admit I was expecting more, seems ironic that I'll have to clean them up before putting them through the tank. I'll have another go this weekend

Someone will probably recommend some very expensive special liquid that makes all the difference 😉 👍

I'd try whatever you have lying around...screenwash or some other detergent... Squezy washing up liquid!
Somewhere in my mind someone has mentioned Tesco concentrated lemon squash, johnjones maybe, but can't remember if that's to do with ultrasonic cleaning or something else!

Hi buster,
Does that bath take SD carb s stripped but not seperated, and fully submerged please ?
If so, how much was it please ?
I don't have a sonic cleaner but do have a brown rectangular flower pot that will accept stripped but not seperated SD carbs fully submerged.
I use redex fuel system cleaner and petrol as a strong cleaning/soaking solution. Goes in like cherry aid, comes out like coke.
Look for bogof supermarket offers.clean the outside crap off the carbs first before stripping and soaking so it doesn't join the inside crap.
Let it soak for a few days, removing the carbs and resubmerging a few times a day.
When done, rinse and completely blow through all passages etc. With a spray carb cleaner or similar.
Squirty oil cans are useful.
Be aware of the mixture screw spring, tiny washer and that o ring.
Think about Allan bolts so on bike carb cleaning can take place.
If you have a compressed air Lance that can spray liquid, wonderful.
The coke redex can be filtered and reused for outside carb cleaning.
Lemon juice, the nas Tesco double strength stuff, cleans steel really well.
RAF cosford use lemon juice on the savaged Luftwaffe's plane from the channel.

The reason the Tesco stuff came to mind was i bought some double concentrate squash yesterday but in Morrisons...99p for 2L and I had a 15% off thing so stocked up with all flavours for the kids! Best not let them have the lemon if it cleans manky planes up.
I vaguely remember a post and thought it was you, johnjones, but can't remember if it was here or the factorium forum... Old age creeping up on my too quickly!

I'm not really a fan of being negative online BUT it might save another member from wasting their money. so the unit I bought is a 6 litre CREWORKS model and in my opinion its crap, it doesnt have a built in thermostat, when it gets to the desired temperature you have to physically turn the heater off, the start button for the timer is erratic at best and downright recalcitrant at worst. the fluid I bought for it seemingly gets great reviews (fake?), it was £30 for 5 litres, enough to make 50 litres of cleaning solution. just ran the carb bodies through again and they actually seem to have come out dirtier than when they went in. you may have guessed by now that I'm less than impressed, in fact due to the dodgy switches/temperature gauge I reckon I'v got reasonable grounds to get a refund. I'll go out tomorrow and buy a couple of tins of carb cleaner and fire up the compressor, as I should have done in the first place. sorry for ranting

I can understand the frustration. A lot of crap being sold out there atm most of it coming from the usual place. They should tick to take aways.
