I have been doing a lot of research over the past few days on Girling Shock Absorber Springs. One thing that confuses me is the old British range has a standard dimension set The strength is measured in lbs/inch The range varies from 42 to 210 and all the springs are about 9 inches How are the springs made to a strength

Someone has fitted a lovely period set of Hagons to the BSA I currently own. Really nicely finished - they look period correct. I'll dig out a pic.

I was given a set of Shocks for the RE, The colour was Green/Yellow which is 90 lbs per inch They were black springs and a bit rusty, I wanted a set of chrome springs on the shocks Spotted these on eBay Looking at the spring could see it was Yellow/Yellow which on investigation is 75 lbs per inch Close enough as will never ride it 2 up This is a great reference site archives.jampot.dk/technical/Suspension/Girling_1953_1965__all_marques_.pdf
