I have been waiting to start another build for some time now, I didn't want to start until I got a V5 for the bike.
Anyway, I applied 3 months ago, using forms V62 and V890. enclosed the required £25 bribe and thought that was it.
Patiently waited 6 weeks before phoning up to find out what the delay was. the cheque had cleared after 4 weeks.
I spoke to a very helpful lady who informed me that a letter had been sent asking for more information. I had received no such letter.
1 week later the letter arrived with a date of 2 days previous. So, maybe the first one had been lost in the post?
I had to provide the name and address of the seller and confirm that I still had the bike. no problem.
another letter - more information on who he bought the bike from needed. Turns out the guy my seller bought it from died and he had no V5.
another weeks wait fearing the worst, I was expecting a visit from the police to remove it. that would have been interesting, trying to work out which pile of bits belonged to it.
today a letter saying "your V62 application SHOULD be processed on 14/12/2023 and a V5 issued 5 days later"
So, only another 2 weeks to wait and I COULD have a V5
What a painless and enjoyable experience, anyone else had to make use of this service?

It's not a difficult process. I hate the fact that the paper form asks you for your email and mobile number. These were never used when needed, adding weeks to the process. so much for living in the paperless age. as for paying by cheque, that's the first one I have written in years, had to check with the bank that they were still valid. can't DVLA do electronic banking?

I've applied for a few V5 for vehicles, never had an issue, had 2 bikes (both Cat N) recently, bought with no V5
Annoyingly, if the bike had been Cat S, I would jot have to pay the £25 fee

Why O why processed in 2 weeks, why not just push the button? admin have to pass it around 6 or 7 departments, giving each one the opportunity to lose it, find it again and then ultimately return it to the original department because it turns out they dont know what to do with it. our entire civil service runs on this basic system...

And it got me up to 100 posts on this forum

V5C is never a proof of ownership so I think normally there should never be an issue getting one.

DVLA kept their promise, V5 was issued on 14th December. Still took 4 months instead of the predicted 4 weeks, and I don't have the paper copy in my hands yet. now I can start turning this - into something looking a bit better. Attachments:

You've got all the bit's! An hour and a half....top's 👍 challenge accepted! Amazing what you can achieve in an hour and a half. OK, I may have cheated a bit. I did have a load of bits ready to throw together. lots of bits still to find though, that'll take longer than an hour and a half.
