I had 2 new tyres on the car today - Kwik Fit did a free check on the tracking and alignment This was the report They charge £69.95 to do the tracking so I was relieved Amazing what technology can do

I havent used it yet, weather been too crap, the target board sets off one wheel and then you move the laser from one front wheel to the other and use that to measure difference. as far as I can tell it should be fairly accurate if your on a good level surface

hmmm, a bit in two minds about this thing its not that easy to set up, hard to level and get it touching the wheel rim correctly the reading is a bit blurry when the mirror is on the nearside wheel better when you move to the offside trying to repeat the readings as a final check seems virtually impossible, maybe if it was on a billiard table smooth surface? or maybe I need a proper tool to lock the steering wheel off. I'll report back on tyre wear and how it feels when I know more

yeah, I used an old cushion...
well it drives fine and the steering wheel is now back central, it tracks true enough with hands off the wheel on a straight and smooth bit of road
time will tell if it cures my tyre wear issues

just to come back on this one, tyres before I used this bit of kit were showing bad shoulder wear after about a month, they now seem fine but I'v not done so many miles as usual through the xmas holidays. basically looks positive so far, I reckon to make the kit work really well you'd need a proper steering wheel holder
