Can anyone explain the reason for the difference between the 80 and 82 engines, the clean one is 80, dirty one is 82 black motor. This is at the base of the barrel. TIA.

1980 has item 3 VALVE OIL CONTROL. 1982 NDc, NC apparently not?

Thank you very much for the diagrams been very helpful. It then didn't make sense to me that the engine I pulled out of the 82 model deluxe had flow control, but after looking at engine numbers it has an early model motor probably about 79. Was there a problem with early model not getting enough flow hence removal of restrictors.

as far as I know an actual NC engine would have this plug (with an o ring) where that oil jet goes, presumably to allow the oil pressure sensor to work that type of engine should then have an external oil feed in front of the barrels and into the cylinder head. the earlier engines could suffer a bit of picking up on the inner two cam shaft journals, the later oil feed was supposed to cure this
