Well, it's about time I started on this thing, I've had it for over two years, and it has just sat there After removing my newly acquired ducati 996 out of the workshop, I eventually got the RE in there, and on the table First job, remove the nasty, broken, tank badges Then, remove the seat unit, had to remove the rear wheel to access some of the seat fixing bolts So far, seat is off, rear wheel removed, rear mudguard assembly removed, unfortunately, before I could fo too much more, I was called away to help out with other things More to follow

Looks to me like you have plenty of cleaning to do to get those red bits ready for paint. Sand blasting and a light coat of primer for most of it. The tank needs the chrome doing first, obviously.

I would scrape out the rust on the oil cap and dab it in with red or black humbrol enamel paint

Had a trip over to Hitchcocks Motorcycles to collect a few bits for the Mongrel (new name for it ) After phonecall with them a couple of days ago, they think it is a Clipper, not a Bullet or Meteor, so, now I'm even more confused Brake linings for rear wheel, fuel hose and tap (I snapped the original tap trying to remove it), two gearbox inspection covers, two tank badges, main stand spring, kickstand spring, head stud, two head nuts and washers, and assorted other screws, nuts and washers

Got a bit more done today, cleaned up the kickstand, rear brake rod, and the frame that fits around the rear fender, even managed to get some primer, and a couple of coats of paint on them, yes, outside, in this wind While the paint was drying, ready for the next coat, I set to on cleaning up the rear fender, and a couple of coats of primer, need to flat it back before any more primer/paint The fender was primed in the workshop, not outside

Bit more done today, until I twatted my thumb, now, it's throbbin like a goodun Gave the rear fender a tub down with wet and dry, when I eventually found it, and another coat of primer Removed the front fender and bracketry from the bike, split them all down, gave them a good clean up and a coat of primer, the front fender is going to need a fair bit more work than the rear one Once the primer was dry, I cleaned up the underside of both fenders, and treated them to a decent coat of black paint
