Well I would take it off and assuming the inside is ok. protect the inside, and dremel rotary tool with a scotch bright pad tool and bi-carbonate of soda slurry paste (wear your goggles). then over again with a little white vinegar. Solvent wipe and brush paint it with ZINGA cold galv, with an optional 2k Lacquer over after a day drying. More worried about the state of the inside.
