2011 to 2013 was a great period for raising refreshed national awareness about our beloved Superdream......and was the very year the forum originally began (2011). I had the pleasure of meeting Bertie Simmonds and his daughter from Classic Motorcycle Mechanics (I believe he is still at the helm there). I will have the whole article re-scanned and put it on a separate thread in a few days as it is an important part of this forum's history. A few years before, I had the boys from MCN come to my home and pitch my 250N deluxe against an all new 250...that article can be found here, it was an interesting time. That's me on the modern Honda whilst their rider rode my deluxe. www.motorcyclenews.com/news/first-rides-tests/2011/april/apr2111-is-new-honda-cbr250r-better-than-1982-super-dream-/

Nice article but typical of MCN’s journalists to slate a classic in order to push something new.

Nice article but typical of MCN’s journalists to slate a classic in order to push something new. That didn't bother me at all (if you are referring to the Bagpuss comment). The article at that time was clearly designed to help sell their magazine and get new riders interested in a new bike, not an old SD. But I do think it ended up having the opposite effect. I'm not sure if that 250 was a success for Honda, do they still make it now? I know it was run at a time when I think the CC licencing laws were updated, hence that new class.

Seemed to have lasted for two years......so a total flash in the pan, like most of this modern Thai and Chinese built un-carbed shite.

odd that they thought a harsh seat and a harsh ride were an improvement.

I do not like that CBR250R, no way it is better than the CB250NB! The Kawasaki 250Ninja comes closer to equal, but has to radical a saddle, not much practical use ( they should consider a saddle style swap out option on these bikes). I do love the CBR250RR 4 cylinder of the 90's, and would like to see the latest CBR250RR or CBR300RR in the flesh (the Indonesian produced bike). If I had bought a bike in Thailand, I would have probably gone for the Ninja 250 or 300 (Dealer only about 5km away, or a couple km as the crow flies). But as time went on I had to agree with the wife, it is very / to dangerous. to use a bike every day there. Road deaths running at 10 to 12 times the UK rate .

I’d still be more than happy with the Deluxe

Me too - it actually looks like a motorcycle.

Must be a great feeling to have your bike featured in a magazine, well done Nick 👌

Cheers Carl, yeah it was an interesting time. I also had one of my CBR600F's in Practical Sportbikes in 2013....it even made the front cover as well as the centrefold. Great experience.
