the plot thickens, got a message today from the seller asking when I was arranging to collect the bike (perfectly reasonable, its dragging on) so rung the courier, his transport manager (his son) answers and asks when did I book the job yesterday? the day before? no says I, it was six days ago. bloody hell he exclaims and says he'll call his father (on the road) and ring me back in a couple of minutes. a couple of minutes later he calls back a promises that they will collect either thursday or friday this week. fingers crossed again time. in other slightly less relevant news I got my first covid jab yesterday (astra zenica, feeling fine) so at least somethings gone right lately... Had mine today Good banter with the Nurse - we were discussing my 14 in 10 million chance of a blood clot

and as predicted the gearbox has arrived before the bikes even been collected unusually (for a german seller) a couple of dowel pins are missing, theyre only 50 cents each so not too worried the bike itself is supposedly being picked up tomorrow, delivery to be arranged at a later date...

the saga continues. I honestly couldnt bear to post on this last night (I was still furious with the so called courier). SWL limited promised me faithfully that they would collect on tuesday, got a message on monday night saying dinnertime tomorrow, so thinks I everythings happening. then about 3pm tuesday I get the call, I'm not going to make it. well I flipped at him on the phone expressed the opinion that he was a completely useless person from a certain place in orkney. so that was courier number two sacked. so onto the interweb and found a guy called barry (baz) and booked him to do the job, had a brief chat with him on the blower (seems a decent chap) and booked the job. just had a couple of texts and he's going to deliver tomorrow. fingers crossed again. in other news the log books arrived...

Is that off an album cover? Seriously though, it's great news it has finally arrived. I am looking forward to reading about the conversion.

initial appraisal time, I'v really only given it a brief once over so bound to be a few more issues that crop up. the frame seems good and solid (had a careful check round the rear sub frame) its had a few coats of bodge it and leg it in places but its a survivor. a few quite serious bolts are missing (lower front engine mount, one of the lower yoke bolts) and a few minor ones. one of the fork seals has gone (chrome on the tube feels ok though) front caliper has seen better days, bits missing and the bleed nipple looks bodged. I'm guessing the down pipes are genuine, collector box I think is pattern (no mounting bolts in it, no front clamps) rear silencers are pattern but pretty nice, heat shields look ok. shocks look like the originals to me, evidence of the fvq sticker at the bottom. seat base could use a rescue before it gets any worse. I'm sure the ad said it had a tickover problem? I cant find any such problem, I fired it up and it popped sweetly into life on both pots, no smoke on fire up and no nasty noises from the engine. there is a bit of a whiff of petrol in the garage now so carbs/tank probably need inspecting when I get chance. overall I'm pretty chuffed its got some really nice bits, dont know if that rear muddy is pattern but its nice, front mudguard is one of the square edged things but it'll do for now
