seal kit as discussed, contains crank seal, gearbox output shaft seals (2), kickstart shaft seal, gear shaft seal and tacho drive seal and as you said the genuine base gaskets appear to be black for the 250 Got the seal set in my basket, along with a full gasket set, and a new oil filter

Bit of an update, took a 2 1/2 hour drive, each way, to go see Buster, early start, to get up on the hills of North Yorkshire from Leicestershire
Well worth the trip 👍
Two head bolt holes in the upper crank case drilled, tapped, and Time-sert inserted, all while we (the Dragon and i) waited
What an absolute top bloke, a true credit to the forum
Thank you very much Buster, your help today is greatly appreciated

Time for an update, as it has been a while After my recent trip to go and see Buster, to do the time-sert on my upper crank case, on the May Day bank holiday weekend, i eventually started the engine rebuild, cleaning the parts fully as I went along Started by Inserting the crank, but, the starter gear fell off , took me a short while to work out, you need to rotate the gear as you insert it, that back in place, crank fitted, then, the balance gears Forget to fit the small chain guard over the transmission gears, crank carrier off again, fit the guard, then refit the carrier, and the balance gears Next problem, couldn't get the pin through the rear balance gear, close, but no cigar, no matter how much I tried, it would not fit, it turned out that the balance chain just rests on the crank gear, not around it , so, crank carrier off (again), sort the chain, refitted, then, refitted the balance gears, surprise surprise, the pin slid straight in Crank in, balance gears in, chain around the correct way, all lined up, happy days...... Everything in place, time for the sump.... At this point, I was as happy as a pig in the proverbial, as everything seemed to be going really well, after the numerous times that the crank carrier had to be removed Well, all was well, until a WhatsApp message came in...... Anone spot the deliberate mistake? Duffer, shush At this point, the dummy was spat, the teddies were chucked, overalls were removed, garage closed and locked, and I stomped off in to the house to sulk

Your hammer is not big enough! Upon discovering the mistake, it was a good job that my 14lb sledgehammer was 45 miles away

did you forget to put the cam chain tensioner/guide piece in? been there done that Yes, but, that was not the mistake which resulted in removal of the sump on the following weekend, it was rectified prior to fitting the sump
