Well done on the mudguard Sir Duffer, I made the mistake many moons ago of fitting the horrible square mudguard, I immediately hated it and replaced it with a DS round item which was a vast improvement, £99 at the time, no idea what the cost is now, grand work brother 👍 🍺 Photos from 2014, good grief, where does the time go

My,Lord Beer, what a fine motorcycle home you have. I expect you can only manage to slum it by comparison. Oh. I was wondering if later, when I have the bike complete, could you send over a couple of you polishing wenches. They certainly seem to keep a lustre on your cluster, of machinery.

I now have the clocks to look at. Still in the spirit of restoration rather than replacement I decided to "have a go". I did see some work from I think Bodie over on the Isle of Man which was just professional. This is not. But if you have a cloudy clock or something, then that sealed unit may be worth a go. This is what I have to begin with - Being sealed units, it is easy to give up, but when you have nothing to lose , and a few spares, then the bit that is holding it all together is a soft metal ring. So with a small screwdriver and some time, it is possible to lift the crimped edge. It is also possible to break the effin glass ! Lucky for me I had a properly knackered one I could now rob. ( Have you noticed when you buy an old Superdream, you always get a box of carburettor parts and clocks in bits). I now learned to open up the soft metal ring MORE ! Then you get to split up the bits and clean them. I also find that repainting the very small parts make the final job so much more like new. Still work to do on this abused old bike though, but getting to clean up the inside of "sealed" clocks is very satisfying. I know it is easy to replace, but that is not what this one is about. More like making good, yet keeping as many original parts as possible. Hope I am not boring the pants off you.

Would you know if.... Are LEDs for the high beam indicator bulb position easily available? and do they just plug in the existing bulb holder?
(I have a t least a couple to reactivate, and I would imagine the blue plastic on them is a bit aged. The clocks appear ok, but the pilot cases are a bit weathered....)

Hi John, Yes you can get them. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/132759662008?hash=item1ee917adb8:g:2GgAAOSwo91bg3RJI bought a bag of them some time ago, and I seem to have lost the order details, but these look about the same. But if you PM me your details I will throw a couple in the post. Here are some pictures to show what difference they make. In my opinion, though they do improve things, the blue lenses do cloud up more than the others. The LED bulbs do show up more, but in daylight it is still hard to tell. Someone else may have a better idea to fix the blue lenses though.

The first picture above is the standard bulb in the case, the second id the LED. The next two speak for themselves.

Just remembered. The LED are sensitive to +/- so you may have to alter the polarity on your bulb holder.

Thank You, that is a good solution... Even on my NHK 250 (when I got it). on which the pilot cases are in good order, had me taking the pilot case apart for MOT preps. Then finding a working bulb, which I did replace with new, to try and get a few more photons .

Very well done on the clock refurbishment, I undertook such a mission not long ago but was unhappy with the faded idiot light text, fortunately a replacement NOS surround was sourced What plan does Sir Duffer have to rectify this problem, I believe a decal is available, but would this be worthy of your quest for perfection?

Well Lord Beer, as I would rather have the original parts where possible, so it may be a decal. I notice your photo was taken some time ago. You have had a new knob since then have you not...👍

The decals are good but I'm yet to see one without air bubbles under it. Do a good job Duffer in fact I don't doubt you will.
