i I need one set for the 400 kicker for it's temporary running gear, so raked out a few boxes. Cush drive / sprocket mountings, surely 3 sets nearly 4, but need all new sprocket nuts, which I should have, but can't find them...

So after survey and intensive cleaning, it's quite a cheap round to make up 4 sets , one new (ex the alloy segments), one v.g.c., two functional. Need One circlip (which I have) Two washers Four Nuts (or 8 cosmetic) Two seals. Then one 36T rear sprocket + Two 15T fronts Some more 520 O-ring chain for 250s. That should be the drive train for them all sorted...

Rain, rain, go away, but a rainy day job of counting how many fasteners I will need (or have if I can find the box they are in) so have kicked off a spreadsheet....

Updated my Kicker decal records (previously experiment on page 2/3 of post) after a comparison of the font with my NOS tank, the "H" was miles out. So I've improved the "HONDA" "H" which is now very accurate, the rest are nearer but not perfected....

Those sleeved bolts seem quite hard to find for the 250, I am sure we've discussed that before on the forum.

Still making up parts kits for the 250's builds. I need more 520 102 link O-ring chains. So found 40530-KAK-901 108 link Honda chain for sale, this is for a CRM125, 29 horses and 14.8 lbft of torque, compared with the CB250 27 horses and 14.7 lbft of torque, after sourcing a suitable link previously (this is the second chain I've bought) Regina 42/135ZRE. Chain £24.99ea + £3.85ea post 2 in No Push/spring link £5.50ea x2 1x £2.50 post so ... So £35.59 per chain with link (would have got a couple more chains but distracted with 3 other NOS items, and that was the budget expended) So to make the 108 endless chain into a 102 split chain Set up in the portable vice, chain protected with thick white card, the chain, where not being worked, protected with black shrink wrap (or the grinding arisings, will stick to the chain coating) So want to keep 4 pins intact, and grind flush the the heads of the two pins either side (-8 +2), slowly grinding down each pin in turn, to avoid to much heat input. Pushed the pins out, away from the ground flush side. Retained the other side, side plates, and the original O rings. in case of need when fitting the spring link later.

Test fit of the seat (mentioned above) on the CB400NC went OK. really happy with the fit on the left side and though the radius on the right is not quite as good it's fine Difficult with space on the right to get a decent pic... It's certainly better than the reconstructed one fitted already to the NC

CB250NA UBMs frame is now blasted and primed, want to get the VIN plate back on, so need to get it back to black. I'm putting a high duty paint coating on the normally lesser seen areas, and also the front down tube. So a quick intermediate coat on before brush painting the black gloss there. I'll have to sand the front tube a bit that white two pack is a bit rough, or more like the brush I was using was to stiff for that bit to get a decent finish. the rest will be fine unless I run over a paint inspector... Running out of summer again . Suppose I could of had the frame painted black as well as getting it primed but no fun in that...

So the painting is done on UBM's frame, except a wee touch-up at the steering lock spigot once the lock is done;- Underside/inboard side of the rear sub frame, the forward down tube, the inside of the box section, the inner and rear of the rear frame down tubes, done with the the shop applied two pack primer, plus a 2 pack epoxy, and a couple of coats of a Jet Black 2k brush applied poly. The remainder has the shop applied 2 pack primer (fully cured and rubbed down to flatten it a bit more and solvent wipe to de-dust), Acrylic Satin Black, then over coated with 2k clearcoat (this was additional on the rear downtube inners). I left the VIN headstock number in primer + 2k lacquer, for easy checking. The turn of the frame spine had 50ml of my favourite Zinga cold galv injected in with a syringe . its a bit hit or miss what its covering but its in there somewhere. The front down tube internal was similarly treated, in addition to the 2 pack as far as it had been applied down the tube, whilst inverted. Steering bearing cup check and probably renewal, together with a new steering lock, and the VIN plate re-attachment (which safe place did I store it in.... _.

Fantastic work John, I do like the idea of leaving the vin number in primer for easy recognition, Mr Honda should have done this 😃
