On to the more dirty things, front brake caliper overall. I’m having difficulty removing the brake pad slider pins. Got the one out after plenty of heat but the second one won’t budge 😡

I wonder if a ultrasonic cleaner bath would help to release that pin?

Ultrasonic clean might shift it.If not carefull and accurate drilling out only option, oversized pins available if required, spark erosion process might be an option

Even with a pillar drill drilling out that pad retaining pin remains would b my last option.
Is the unseen larger diameter outside end intact ?
You have access to a mig welder ?
If not I am sure you have a vice ( or anvil or similar ), a smallish hammer and suitable punch ?
Heat is your friend, alloy expands at a different rate to steel, so toooo much heat can he counter productive.
Boiling the unit in old engine oil or water can help release corrosion...
An assistant can come in handy sometimes as you, like me, only have 2 hands.
Alum ?
That stubborn pin remains problem is not that difficult to resolve, will the care...

Holding it firmly and vertically centre drilling the pin accurately the drill ( decent quality ) will take the old pin out.A small machine shop with a jig borer or radial drill would get the pin out no problem.Welding would make a mess of it in my humble opinion.Spark eroding would get it out and a plug pressed in and drilled out if hole damaged.Easiest option to use a replacement caliper,CTB will overcome the problem I’m sure😁

Thanks for all the advise, with renewed vigor I got the map gas out again, mole grips and the big 4lb lump hammer . So got the pin red hot and gripped larger side of the pin and tried to rotate it. Did this several times whist giving it a good thump with the 4lb'er and eventually after bending my small punch the b*****d finally gave way. So new pins and seals ordered and on with the clean up and paint.

Looking good Carl. Are you going to source decals for those side panels or leave 'as is'. ?

Is this destined to display the “showroom” CTB ? Unfortunately there’s no room in the showroom 😢, even the cbx550 has been moved out there’s only 13 superdream and one 450 nighthawk in there now,
will take an up to date photo tomorrow and post
