So I found that the floats were set at 15mm rather than the 17mm they recommend here. My image make the reading look correct but they were both 15mm for sure:

Was worse yesterday, literally a fountain. Now a fine mist (second pic shows the petrol coming out of the cylinders when cranked). More of a vapour now. Fire extinguisher was standing by.

Are these the carbs you have just had rebuilt with new parts? Thing is, he rebuilt them but did not 'set them up'.....which is what I paid for (rebuild). He does all makes and models of bikes, I guess last time I was just lucky. He factory set the mixture (similar to many Triumphs I think) but clearly not the float heights. But.....I'm still having an issue with the RHS. Happy that the LHS is now happy by process of elimination, but we are getting there. Things we do eh Carl? Set correct at 17mm but still causing an issue...tomorrow I will go 18mm.....ooooh daring....sometimes you have to live life on the edge.

What bugs me just slightly is that these carbs were not given a simple overflow system like found on our beloved SD's.....fuel in the airbox the first sign of trouble? How backward is that?
Let's not forget these are the same Jap make (Keihin)....cost cutting exercise on either their or Triumph's part no doubt.

Two things that made me smile 1. Nick’s nobly knees in the mirror finish rocker covers, must be nice to be wearing shorts outside in December. 2. Do you get these issues with fuel injection 🤔, think I’ll get me coat 🤓

2. Do you get these issues with fuel injection 🤔, think I’ll get me coat 🤓 Probably not....but at least we can 'self spanner' in the garage to try and get the issue sorted. Not a chance with EFI when something goes tits up......not forgetting that horroble EM light.....so not motorcycle.

Said in a David Attenborough style voice: "So......here we have the Triumph Bonneviile 2006. 3rd night of airbox watch. Just watching.....and waiting.....for that petrol to slowly seep into the airbox. We wonder and we wait....like scolded Lions....eager for conclusion and revenge....."

Happy days.....all back together, running great and sitting pretty. (never connect tank breather hose to carbs....bad idea). Next job.....to fit a genuine centre stand 'kit' - Triumph were too tight to do this from the factory.
