If done “properly “ and I’m confident you and Gav would do one properly I’d say go for it😁

I'd say go for it but do it in such a way as you dont hack the frame and fit one of those loops, that way if you change your mind...

A harder to find CB250N-B (non deluxe) in the best colour. Please put any thoughts of cafe-ing it aside......cafes are for having a fry up in.

I've not seen many Sd cafe racers that really look the part , they don't quite work . Maybe an age thing but the Norton, triumphs etc have that look. even the cb77 . Year 1968.

I just know you will make a good job of it whichever way you go. My opinion is it's your bike, do what you want. Not much help really, I know. 😁

Keep the grinder for something else, a Honda CB250T perhaps?

Totally up to you. Bike does look like it has lived a life. You could certainly go either way with it. Maybe a tracker also.

The more I think about it, the more I'm inclined to say do it!
After all, I believe you may have an original bike or two? 🤔

Thanks for all the replies it would appear that it’s roughly 50/50 I find that interesting and it’s good we are all different. So my Fatherly advice to my son was as follows. If you want a cafe racer either buy one completed as the cost may well outweigh the value if you do one yourself or if you want the experience of doing a cafe racer or tracker or brat bike then please find a bitza bike. My thoughts on the superdream already purchased is as follows The negative It’s very corroded from being stored in a prefab concrete garage. The seat is scrap It will need a lot of new chrome One side panel has a missing lug 2 into 2 exhaust required Genuine front mudguard required And plenty more The Positive The bike has matching frame and engine numbers within 2 digits Wheels match both 1180 date stamped - which is interesting as the bike was registered January 1982 obviously stood in showroom for a long time probably because it was silver and nothing to do with new learner laws 😜. In my opinion the bike has not been messed with or dismantled all bolts look like genuine Honda Mileage is not high but not that low 21k I have most of the spares required but not all The bike is a rare NB non deluxe (rare does not always equate to valuable or desirable.
So in summary my recommendation son is restore to original.
Time will tell.

Possibly a wise decision CTB but can I ask if you are intending on doing a factory style restore? It turns me off doing it these days as the price of the parts and stuff is just mad, especially with not being as easy to get stuff over from Germany now. That mudguard you mention alone is more of a pain to find.

This is the decision I expected 😁 your love of the Superdream won’t let you do it and we all respect you for it👍
