Possibly a wise decision CTB but can I ask if you are intending on doing a factory style restore? It turns me off doing it these days as the price of the parts and stuff is just mad, especially with not being as easy to get stuff over from Germany now. That mudguard you mention alone is more of a pain to find. I will leave the final decision to my son, but as I said I do have a few parts not nos but good usable ones including front mudguard, twin exhaust system, seat and a very good silver NB tank. I could probably sell the parts for more than the bike will be worth but it’s good to get another one back on the road.

Thanks for all the replies it would appear that it’s roughly 50/50 I find that interesting and it’s good we are all different. So my Fatherly advice to my son was as follows. If you want a cafe racer either buy one completed as the cost may well outweigh the value if you do one yourself or if you want the experience of doing a cafe racer or tracker or brat bike then please find a bitza bike. My thoughts on the superdream already purchased is as follows The negative It’s very corroded from being stored in a prefab concrete garage. The seat is scrap It will need a lot of new chrome One side panel has a missing lug 2 into 2 exhaust required Genuine front mudguard required And plenty more The Positive The bike has matching frame and engine numbers within 2 digits Wheels match both 1180 date stamped - which is interesting as the bike was registered January 1982 obviously stood in showroom for a long time probably because it was silver and nothing to do with new learner laws 😜. In my opinion the bike has not been messed with or dismantled all bolts look like genuine Honda Mileage is not high but not that low 21k I have most of the spares required but not all The bike is a rare NB non deluxe (rare does not always equate to valuable or desirable. So in summary my recommendation son is restore to original. Time will tell. But was it followed by “I can sell you most of the bits you need”?

Couldn’t get the air box out without removing the shocks, but as stated earlier due to a paddock stand being used I couldn’t remove the shocks at this point in time, so let’s get the exhaust off. I made sure the bolts were red hot before getting the socket and breaker bar on them, good news they all came out without snapping although one stud came out of the head instead on the nut coming off the stud. Bit of fiddling to get the exhaust out

Next job drain the oil, much easier to do at this point. and let’s see if we have a spring and washer under the oil filter oh dear that’s not good, at least it’s had filter change in its 21k miles lifetime
